A common mistake made by most couples on wedding planning is that they think any one can do it and as such deem themselves as experts on the issue. They might gather resources such as magazines, visit forums and even ask relatives for their stories on how they got ready and how they arrived at the perfect female wedding photographer. But out of all these resources, all they focus on is how to go about hiring a wedding photographer. No one looks at the how not’s.
As a result of this, we have decided to take a different method to guide you and your future spouse on how not to choose a female wedding photographer. They are:
#1 How Not
Never ever rely on the information or reference given by other wedding suppliers or vendors. In case you are wondering why, the reason is very simple. The wedding vendors are all in the business together and what business that is, is to sell wedding services at the best price. You may find that the wedding industry is a large niche and as such it pays to have connections with other wedding suppliers. You may find that a wedding planner has the contact of other wedding vendors like the female wedding photographer, florists, decorator, caterer etc. The reason why this network is there is to make it easier for them to sell the services of one another. If you are going to be taking referrals from any wedding vendor, we advise that you conduct your own research as well so as to verify that the service you get is not mediocre.
#2 How Not
Do not ever base or form an opinion of a female wedding photographer on their portfolio containing several images in one. Any photographer that presents a portfolio should not compress different wedding images in one album. This is how you get to know a serious photographer from an unserious photographer. A photographer that has respect for the craft will also have respect for the couples they photographed and separate the works into different albums. These different albums may consist of different wedding styles. If a photographer gives you a portfolio comprising of more than 50 couples in one album then you should know that you ought to look elsewhere or else your photographs may end up just like that.
#3 How Not
A crucial mistake when it comes to searching for a female wedding photographer is that the couple more often than not use price as a directive to decide whether or not to hire. This means that when they research and interview photographers, they will be more focused on the sales pitch the photographer delivers. This is the wrong approach and can prove to be a costly mistake. If the photographer tells you that for a certain price he will guarantee 5 hours of coverage, what else is included in that? Even if the photographer is regarded as the best one you can get on your budget, the focus should not be on the asking price but the quality of content you can get for that asking price.
