Attend the rehearsal no matter what happens.
Let your clients know how important it is for a wedding photographer to do so. The rehearsal is usually just for the close friends and family, and most of the members of the entourage. Although this might not be something that the clients will invite you to right off the bat, this is something that you will need to attend nonetheless. Talk to them about the importance and about the benefits of having you present in the wedding rehearsal. Although you may already have things handy in terms of the program or the sequence of events during the wedding, it is always different to actually get a feel for it based off of a dry run during the wedding rehearsal.
You will be able to time how things will actually pan out in real life and you will be made aware of some issues with the sequence, if any. All of these things are crucial to the success of the wedding shoot that you are about to cover for your clients and you need all of the possible tools and means that you can get your hands on as a wedding photographer. This is also the time for you to warm up to the inner wedding circle. Get them comfortable around you so that you can get rid of any awkwardness or anything like that somewhere along the way.
Don’t be lazy with your compositions as a professional wedding photographer.
Be creative and constantly push yourself to do better compared to how you fared from your last shoot. Always think outside of the box and always think on your feet. Always be on the lookout for creative inputs that you can incorporate into your compositions. Although most of these things are thought processes and efforts, they will surely be more than visible in the photos that you will be able to produce for your clients at the end of the day. Always factor in the different variables included in the shot and take some time to really think about what the best possible approach is. When you don’t rush through things and when you carefully lay out your compositions, it is something that the clients will really be able to appreciate and take advantage of at the end of the day and that is something that you can take to the bank every single time. If you need a little more freedom in your composition making process, bring a tripod along with you. Things always look a little different if you take a step back.
A few props won’t hurt your creative efforts as a wedding photographer.
Props, if chosen tastefully, can really bring out a whimsical side to the wedding shoot and this is what you should be looking after as a professional wedding photographer. Make sure that you run this by your clients though. They need to be sold on the idea before you proceed to initiate anything during the wedding shoot.
