Are you a wedding photographer Hampshire?
Then, we are sure that you’ve met a number of clients before and talk to many of them. It’s also common to only meet them once because some of them are only meeting you to consult and ends up hiring someone else. Even if that’s the case, you still need to always be a good listener to your every potential client. Why?
Silent is gold. We are in a world where everyone seems to have their own opinions about things, but there are so few people that are willing to listen. Show your client that you are not a photographer who wants to look like he knows everything. You want to be that person that cares about their wedding. To do that, though, you need to listen, or you won’t know what advice you should give!
Listening will allow you to ask questions, which is a good feedback. Clients won’t feel like they’re talking to a wall or the wind that simply carries away their words. Ask them questions, such as the theme of their wedding, where it’s held, how long it’s held or how big it’s going to be. If those things have been explained, you can ask what kind of wedding pictures that they personally like.
Ask an open-end question that will let them talk about themselves more. This way, they’ll feel closer to you as you’ve got to know more about them. In exchange, you can introduce yourself if they ask you questions as well. Try not to sound like you’re going auto when you introduce yourself. Maintain eye contact, mention each sentence with eagerness and never repeat things.
Sometimes, you might have written down some of them on your site, like a photographer Hampshire from www.mooreandmoorephotography.co.uk. But your clients want to ask you for consistency or in case that it’s changed. Answer them accordingly.
Have the conversation go in a friendly direction.
We know how some photographers can make the relationship very strictly business. While it is business, you are also dealing with one of the happiest days of theirs. They want to make sure they are getting the best men for the day, but they are also unsure if they are doing this right. Not like they have enough experience in preparing a wedding.
If you can become that friendly guy who is ready to provide solutions and advice whenever needed, you will create a sense of dependency on them. That way, they are more likely to hire you because they can feel that you are capable of what you do. Your words will become more credible if you can prove them by showing your past works that are related.
Trying to become a good listener can be challenging for a photographer Hampshire if you are used to bombarding your client with information on your first meeting. It’s important to know that clients don’t expect you to talk at length about what you do but would rather know what you can do for them. But you won’t know the latter if you don’t listen first.
